Rained out? Too cloudy? Not if you are a real trooper!

The weekend started out with nothing but clouds.  We met a few people in town  at the local McDonalds and after about an hour of chat in the parking lot decided to cancel plans for viewing because of the clouds.  The weather forecasters predicted nothing but clouds and rain all weekend.  Thank goodness for their normal ineptitude.  Although the weather didn't cooperate for very long we were able to get the telescope out for about two hours on Saturday evening for some pretty good views of the stars.  Although there were a lot of cancellations it didn't stop us.  We ended up with 12 guests.  We also decided to make the trip back north in late December & January.  The people that we met and the friends that we made topped off a great trip.  We were also lucky enough to introduce one of the youngest viewers to our 20" telescope since we got it.  He is an avid star-lover and future famous astronomer.  He's pictured below.

Here is our little group from Saturday nights viewing.  Pictured from left to right are Paul, Lisa, Heather, Richard, Heidi, Nick, Chris, Wendy, Dan, & our resident sleeper, Whitney.  She actually stayed up and viewed before the clouds rolled in!

Sirius Stargazers President, Jeff & the youngest viewer and resident amateur astronomer, Nick.  We were really surprised at how knowledgeable this little guy is about astronomy.  The whole theme of our organization is to get kids involved.  Nick is worlds beyond most of his peers.  He has his own ETX-60 and has a pretty good idea how to use it.  What a great thing to see parents getting their kids involved in science & astronomy.  Great job Dan & Wendy!
