July 2002. Hey, we love to take trips! Here are a few pictures of some of our, at that time, future members on a trip out west!
Nothing like the Pacific Ocean in July 2002! The club wasn't formed at this time. We were still tinkering with the idea. We are planning a star party trip in 2004. We are thinking the southwest United States. Want to join us?
Some of our friends sharing a little bit of quality time in the "Hoh Rainforest" in Washington State last summer. Pictured from left to right are Whitney, Jeff, Barry & Garrett.
How about some viewing from these skies? Somewhere in Nebraska. Ugh! If we had only brought the telescope!
Jeff & Garrett in the Bad Lands in South Dakota. Both are avid astronomy nuts! Garrett is actually nuttier than Jeff. It's hard to tell from this picture but about a foot behind these guys is a cliff which appeared to drop several hundred feet. Nutty!
Sunday, March 23, 2003 For those of you who love to look at stars, you missed out on a great time. We took the 20" Obsession telescope to Monroe, Michigan and set it up for some of our friends. We had a great time looking at objects like Jupiter and 5 of it's moons, Saturn, The Great Orion Nebulae, The Pleaides, The Mizar in the Big Dipper as well as M 35. We weren't able to look at other objects. Why? Everytime we got ready to move on to a new object, a car would stop or other people would show up and we'd have to start all over. I have to say that it was fantastic. I haven't heard so many Ooh's and Aah's since Michigan whipped Washington on a last second field goal back in September, 2002. The night began with a half dozen friends and by the time we packed things up we had over 20 different people standing around the scope at different times peering out into the universe! Come on out and check out the stars with our staff and friends!
