April 03, 2004.  The weather was a little chilly tonight.  We weren't planning on getting the telescope out but after dinner the skies looked pretty clear so we decided to set up.  What a great idea.  We got about 3 hours of good viewing and a bunch of great photos.  Here are a couple close ups of the waning gibbous moon.  We also got a few nice pictures of Saturn.  Some of them are posted on the club picture gallery.  All pictures were taken using the same Kodak DC4800 digital zoom camera at 1/8 second.  Not too bad.

April 04, 2004.  Too cold? No way! Whitney did her best to weather the cold for about 20 minutes.  She retired early to the sanctuary of a warm house.  25 degrees is too cold.

There's nothing like a night of viewing with an Obsession.  I'm getting ready for a cold night of viewing.  The moon and Jupiter were beautiful tonight.  The wind really made things difficult.

Just a quick picture of Jupiter tonight.

Monday, April 05, 2004.  Another beautiful night of viewing.  The moon was full so we focused on Jupiter, Saturn, Orion, the Moon, and the Pleaides.  We had a half dozen viewers.  We took pictures but the cameras video card didn't work.  Thanks to the folks who came out.  What a great night!

This is how not to take pictures at an event.  Although we had a great time I messed up the picture.  Thanks to eveyone who came out Saturday evening.  Pictured, but very hard to see is Whitney, Jack & Madeira, Gerald Sr. & Jr., Angela, JC, Genere, and Camille.  We got excellent views of Jupiter and the waxing crescent moon.  We also got excellent views of the light pollution from Detroit (in back).  Yeah, that isn't sunlight.  That's light pollution from that great ole Light Polluting-Detroit City!  We still get excellent views of the south and south-west skies.  We also sat around and watched the satellites and falling stars until around midnight.  Next weekend we are off to Sterling State Park for a community event!

The Sterling State Park event was "Stellar"!  We had nearly 100 observers throughout the night.  We also had members of a few other clubs stop by to share in the views.  We were hoping to give everyone a nice garden variety view of several celestial objects but the crowd was so excited about viewing Jupiter and the moon that we spent most of our time on them.  We also got an excellent view of M13 and a comet!   Unfortunately our camera wasn't able to get good pictures after dark so we really don't have alot of pics to show.  We really need to work on that!  We are very grateful to all who came out for the view.  Now were off to Indian River for the weekend of the 4th!

Early in the evening before the crowds began to show up.

Dad and daughter get their first view of the moon!
